La Roseraie de Vrigny

La Roseraie is surely one of the Loire Valley’s best kept secrets. Despite the fact that it is so centrally located (all of the Loire Valley’s most famous chateaux are less than an hour’s drive away), it is slightly off the beaten track. So while you can visit all of the headline attractions of this gorgeous part of France, when you return to your gite of bed & breakfast accommodation at La Roseraie you are not going to be surrounded by tourists and the hurly-burly of coach parties. Nestled on the edge of a small and very ancient village (Julius Caesar is said to have set up a camp here), you will probably be unlucky if you hear more than four or five cars go past in an entire day.

Choose between a self-catering holiday or mini-break in our characterful and cosy gîte d'étape la Petite Ecurie, or bed and breakfast in the traditional farm house. Whichever you choose, you will receive a warm welcome, unobtrusive yet attentive hospitality and the opportunity to join owners Rosalind and John for dinner: Rosalind’s dishes make full use of the abundance of fresh local produce, much of which is grown in la Roseraie's large garden – a magical place of hidden corners that is the perfect place to relax after a day exploring the Loire Valley.

Although they have lived in France for many years, Rosalind is Scottish and John is English so if you are looking for a gite or bed-and-breakfast where English is spoken, then La Roseraie is the ideal base to explore France on the back roads, visit some of the lesser known chateaux, discover little shops and superb restaurants. We recommend that you don’t just “tick all the boxes” by cramming in the major Chateaux – take time to relax.
